Small operatic bear

Royal Opera is doing La Calisto!

When I was about 12 I saw a film of Calisto. Even though it was in English (probably English National Opera) I didn't understand quite what was going on, but I loved it.

I'm not sure about this production and its attention-demanding costumes. The voices in the clip sound a bit fruity, too. I'd still like to see it though.

From what I remember the costumes in the filmed production were late 17th or early 18th century. It was all very blue and silver and cool and they had the traditional descending-from-the-clouds machine and a scene of running around stage in a bear costume and at the end Calisto was winched up to heaven singing happily. It beat the spring bank holiday circus by far.
